Estudié Magisterio en la
especialidad de Educación Física en la Universidad de Granada.
Actualmente soy maestro de Educación Física, teniendo una
experiencia de 14 años como docente en colegios públicos de Andalucía.
Compagino mi labor profesional, con mi labor como entrenador.
Mi experiencia como entrenador es ya de 22 años,
habiéndome dedicado tanto a futbol de formación, como a nivel aficionado y profesional
en equipos de categoría nacional como primer entrenador. Además también he sido
coordinador y director deportivo en clubs de la provincia de Granada.
Durante los últimos años soy profesor de las
asignaturas de Técnica, Táctica, Dirección de Equipos y Reglas de Juego, en el
Centro Autorizado por la Junta de Andalucía, IUNDENIA; encargado de la
formación de Técnicos Deportivos Grado Medio y Superior en Fútbol. Previamente
durante 5 años también he impartido la asignatura de Técnica, en los cursos de
Técnico Deportivo en Fútbol, organizados por CEDIFA (organismo perteneciente a
la Federación Andaluza de Fútbol).
He participado como ponente en diversos congresos y
seminarios sobre fútbol en Andalucía, relacionados con aspectos
técnico-tácticos, así como de promoción de valores y de dirección de equipos.
También he realizado diversas publicaciones en revistas técnicas de futbol,
sobre planificación, diseño de tareas, estudio y análisis de contenidos
técnicos y tácticos; así como la publicación del Libro:”Estructuración Táctica
y Entrenamiento del Ataque Directo”.

Desde la inquietud por la
formación continua he cursado dos Máster, el primero en Dirección y
Entrenamiento de Equipos organizado por la Universidad Camilo José Cela y la
RFEF y el segundo Máster Profesional en Fútbol por la Universidad de Murcia.
He realizado cursos de Experto en
Coaching Deportivo organizados por la Universidad Francisco de Vitoria y la
RFEF y en este área también he dirigido Seminarios de Coaching para
Entrenadores en Andalucía.
Mi relación con el mundo del
fútbol nace como jugador en el Granada CF y continúa con experiencias durante
los últimos 15 años como la de 2ª Entrenador, Coordinador de club, Analista,
Secretario Técnico y 1º Entrenador en diferentes clubes.
Actualmente soy Profesor Titular
del
CEDIFA donde, durante los últimos 10 años, he impartido asignaturas como Técnica y Táctica en los
cursos de Técnico Deportivo en Fútbol que organiza este organismo oficial.
David García-Hevia
David Garcia’s 18-year soccer coaching resume illustrates an impressive
array of experience working with a range of player ages and skill levels. He
has coached players from 8 to 18 years old, from the recreation to the elite
youth soccer levels throughout Region 1 of U.S. Youth Soccer.
Garcia has also directed coaches and led player development for
colleges, academies, and soccer clubs. He is in his third year as the director
of coaching and player development for the Brockport Soccer Club (U6-U18). He
also spent two years directing player development at the Calloway United Soccer
Academy.
This year, 2012, marks Garcia’s first season with Finger Lakes Community
College (FLCC) as assistant coach of the men’s soccer team. Garcia brings his
unique coaching philosophy with him while working individually with players to
assess their skills and develop the team into a winning product on the field.
His goal is to improve each player’s technical ability while incorporating
programs to aid in sustaining a consistent training regimen.
In addition to his position at FLCC, he continues to coach with a New
York State West Youth Soccer Association (U8-U18) premier club. During his
tenure with RFC, he achieved a pair of New York State West Championship titles.
He also led the Harley Allendale Columbia High School boy’s soccer team to a
championship victory during his first coaching season with the team.
Garcia’s passion for soccer is evident from the way he leads his
life: he loves soccer. He began to play
soccer when he was 5 years old. Growing up in Mexico, he consistently played
for premier youth teams. After his youth playing career, Garcia played at ITESM
College in Mexico, and then played professionally with the Cruz Azul football
club (a member of the Premier Division in Mexico). In addition, Garcia has
played semi-professional soccer at the first, second, and third divisional
levels. He currently plays in the Rochester District Soccer League, one of the
largest and strongest amateur leagues in Upstate New York.
Garcia is a 1986 graduate of ITESM College in Mexico with a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Business Administration. He resides in Henrietta, New York and
has two sons, ages 20 and 22.

Philosophy
I strive for player
development on and off the field, promoting competitive soccer in a fun, safe,
and positive environment. To develop and improve each player’s technical
ability and gain a better understanding of the game tactically is also
important. I believe in training players to become well-rounded players who can
play multiple positions. I provide my players with situational recommendations
to help them make good decisions and improve their speed of play. It’s my job
to analyze their results, provide feedback, and assist them in learning from
their past experiences so that in the future they might make the best decisions
available to them. I believe that the best one can hope for in life is to be
held accountable for the actions and decisions one makes – to reap the
accolades or accept the criticisms.
